There were two different things to sign up for. First, since lunch was involved, people were asked to design beautiful table centerpiece-type big displays to decorate. That was what Jennifer signed up for. We signed up for the show-off-a-talent table display, which actually turned out to be more of a, "Bring something you did and we'll put it on display!" It was good because it turned out to be a lot less scary than we were prepared for, but we were a little like, "That would have been nice to know." Oh well.
But that has nothing to do with why we're not there. See, Jennifer had been sick all week, and despite the fact that the illness had lasted all week, she thought it was just a cold, which is why we still went to the storehouse. We thought she would be fine with a little rest, and made arrangements to go to the women's conference together, and to go to the church the day before to arrange all the things we'd signed up to arrange. After that, she went to the doctor and found out she had bronchitis.
She didn't want to let us down, so she asked her friend code-named Leigh to take us to the church to drop off the miniature manga display we made, as well as decorate the table Jennifer signed up to decorate. We found out Leigh wasn't planning to attend the conference, so we asked if Jennifer was still planning to go, and Leigh got as far as saying, "Yes, she's--" when she got distracted by a link not working in a text message. It was awkward trying to figure out how to bring it up again, so we didn't.
So we half figured that if Jennifer ended up not going, she'd text us to let us know, and we could make other arrangements, and we half just didn't care. And that's how we ended up not going to the conference after all.
But we did beat Kingdom Hearts 3D last night. Oh my goodness, Sora is so adorable. We were closer to the end of the game than the play record had us believe, but considering all the last bosses Riku had to fight, we weren't all that surprised when it turned out to be over.
We did figure out the whole deal with Riku being a dream eater (because we did see that scene again). It's just that when the robed man showed up, he was like, "Oh no, Sora's in trouble!" and dived into Sora's dream to protect him from the robed guy, and took on the role of dream eater to destroy all the nightmares threatening Sora.
We also figured out that the mystery kid really was just an extra-young Xehanort, which is kind of boring, but Saix/Isa is still on Xehanort's side, which is a bummer for Lea, I guess. Isa was kind of a jerk.
Anyway! The ending was really intense! All these people showing up just in the nick of time! And then little Xehanort hurt Mickey! Oooohhhh nooooo!!! That scene was kind of awesome. I'm a little sadistic toward Mickey, but not because I want him to get hurt--because I love it when he gets the chance to show that he's not the wimp everybody seems to think he is. And then! then! Xehanort was going to make Sora another one of his horcruxes, and it was like ooooohhhh noooooo! again!
But then! Axel showed up! And then he said, "I told you, I'm not 'Axel.' It's Lea. Or whatever, just call me Axel; I don't care anymore." Axel's so awesome. And then there was more last boss stuff, and then it was the end! And it was so cute!
Riku finally woke up after saving Sora from inception (or limbo, whatever), and Sora and Donald are fighting over cake! And then Sora finds out Riku is alive, and he's so happy, because he was so worried! So worried that he was throwing a party? It's actually a good lesson to learn, because sitting around like, "Oh no oh no oh no!" doesn't help anybody. And then Yen Sid's like, "So about that master test...?" And all the party stuff gets thrown aside so they can go back to their formal, serious test thingie.
And then! oh this was the cutest thing ever. Yen Sid said that they both did very well, but since Sora got tied up in darkness's basement and Riku fought about sixteen thousand last bosses (actually, it was six) to save him, Riku gets to be the keyblade master! Yay! And Sora's reaction! He just couldn't contain himself! He was like, "Yes! That's so awesome! You totally did it! I knew you could do it!"
And Riku was like in shock. And then he realized what just happened, and he was all happy and stuff. Sooooo cute.
And then! Lea's all like, "I'm gonna be a keyblade master, too, y'know." And they were like, "Wha!?" And he's like, "Yeah, that's why I'm here. I just can't get the keyblade to show up for me." And then he tried it...and it worked! And he was like, "Ah!" And everyone else was like, "Whaaaaaa!?" Including Yen Sid! It was awesome!
And then they had the credits, which drove us crazy, because for part of it, you get to dive through the credits! And you collect letters while you're diving, but we only got two! Oooohhhh noooooo!
Also, we're a little confused about how they need seven guardians of light, and they were counting them off, and they listed Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Sora, Riku, and Mickey, plus one more that had yet to be identified, and we were like, "Kairi, right?" Apparently not, because now Lea has a keyblade. But maybe? I don't know. We'll just have to wait and find out. The credits told us veeerrrrry slowly that "This leads to Kingdom Hearts," and by the time it got to the last S, we forgot to pay attention, so we don't know if there was a III after that, or if it just meant something like they're all on their way to Kingdom Hearts or what. So today, we're working on sidequests so we can get the secret movie (assuming there is one, but there always is one, so...).
Also also, I need to remember to be thankful for floors, because the second last boss kept taking the floor away, and whenever it was back, we were like, "Wow, we keep taking floors for granted. We should be more grateful for them."
Also also also! the voice of Harvey from Kieli and Captain Davis from the Storm Chasers ride at DisneySea is the Japanese dub voice of Kevin Flynn! Suddenly I'm more interested in Tron. We were also happy that our slightly arbitrary guess of Daisuke Hirakawa for Sam turned out to be right (he also dubs Will Turner).
Today I'm thankful for the table display thing being less scary than it could have been, having some sunny weather to do chores in, the awesomeness of Kingdom Hearts, having Baked Ruffles to eat at lunchtime, and floors.
