The first thought that comes to mind is, "Is June to October really a short engagement?" We were a little confused when we translated that scene, because Ageha was so shocked that Mitsuya and Tsuyu were getting married in October, and it was June, and we were like, "So?" Then she said something about it being so fast, and we were like, "Oooohhhh." In the LDS culture, engagements tend to be about that length, and are often even shorter. One of the reasons for this is that the sooner the couple ties the knot, the less likely they are to do anything inappropriate before it happens. Obviously neither of us knows from experience, but we hear the temptations get much stronger once the couple is engaged. Anyway, it doesn't really seem that strange to us to get married so fast, one because it's normal to us, and two because if you know someone well enough to know you want to devote your life to them, what are you waiting for?
But we're supposed to be talking about VB Rose. One thing that always baffled us about this series is that a bunch of people would say, "The pacing is so much better than in I Hate You!" And we were like, "Umm, it's exactly the same." I don't remember the details, but I do remember that the love confession is in volume eight for both, followed immediately by backstory about the hero that go into volume nine. There's always a friend character who falls in love with the heroine around volume two or three. A fashion show of some sort towards the end, somebody close to the hero gets married, and at the very end the heroine agonizes about what she wants to do after high school. It's practically the same series, so why does everyone like VB Rose so much better? (We love them both, so the fact that they're so similar is just an amusing detail to us.)
What else? Oh! It was fun how I could combine Mitsuya and Tsuyu, and Mitsuya and Yukari when those pairs were talking at the same time. Too bad Tsuyu and Yukari never talked together. Yukari and Ageha, on the other hand, are not so easily combined.
Saki! I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but Ageha started talking about her teacher, and this tiny alarm went off in my head like, "I should know something about her teacher..." and then I turned the page and wanted to scream! Aaaahhh! We didn't realize it when we first read that part, because we hadn't finished I Hate You♥ yet, but if his daughters specifically don't look like him, that means they must look just like...
And I can't think of anything else I had to say.
Today I'm thankful for the amazing lemonade we had at the Institute barbecue last night, having a slightly cooler apartment today (we turned down (up?) the air-conditioning in a fit of disgruntlement; the only problem being that our disgruntlement came in large part from not having any money, eheh), having an excuse to play even more Ace Attorney (we have to pull out Apollo Justice to get some reference material), fun combining names together, and easily localizable pun.
