BBQ

It's that time again! Time for a barbecue! Well, technically, in Fresno, I think it's always time for a barbecue. Have I mentioned that sometimes we'll smell barbecue at one in the morning? It doesn't happen that often, but that might only be because we stopped staying up that late.

Anyway. For Family Home Evening this week, the ward is having a barbecue. I think this might have something to do with Independence Day coming up, but it has more to do with some softball game? There's some softball tournament going on that we know almost nothing about because we're not interested in sports at all, but apparently our ward's team lost miserably last time, so there was talk of having a barbecue and then having everybody watch the softball game. The theory is that the terrible loss was due to lack of moral support.

That being the case, originally we weren't going to go. It wasn't only the softball thing--they moved it to a building that's not in walking distance. But when our home teacher was driving us home from church on Sunday, he commented on how close we are to the building we normally have FHE in, and so we said, "Yup, that's why we can go to FHE now, except for this week, since they moved it." Most people let comments like that go, but our home teacher is sharp. He said, "Do you need a ride?" And much as we'd rather stay home playing Labyrinth of Grimm or something, we figure socializing is good for us, so we said yes and there you have it.

Incidentally, they also moved FHE to Wednesday for this week, which is why I'm talking about it today (normally it's on Thursday). When it was going to be on Thursday, the bishop said we were going to have a Canada Day party, since he's from Canada. But then apparently the softball game was moved to Wednesday, so FHE was moved to Wednesday, too. Rar.

Speaking of Labyrinth of Grimm, we got Rapunzel's ending yesterday. The main thing worth mentioning is Sailor Exorcist SuperS. They had a showdown with the witch, and Rapunzel was practically defeated! And Henrietta was like, "Oh no, I have to help!" and Rapunzel's foster mother the other witch was like, "No, believe in her! She can do this on her own!" and Henrietta's like, "Uh... she's not getting up."

See, Rapunzel had gone off into a dream world. Henrietta was cheering her on as she fought, and everything looked desperate, and it all seemed very familiar... that's right, she had seen this in Sailor Exorcist SuperS! There was more to the title than that, but we can't remember exactly. It had "danzai" in it, which means "conviction," as in convicting a criminal. The other part was probably senshi. Yeah, Danzai Senshi sounds right, I think. And the heroine was Danzai Maria, and she was dressed a lot like... Sailor Pluto, actually, because her color was black, but with Sailor Moon's hair.

And the other Convict Soldiers: Convict Mars (who looked a lot like Henrietta), Convict Mercury (who looked a lot like Sleeping Beauty even though we don't meet her in this storyline), and there was also Convict Venus, who we think is the one who looked like Red Riding Hood, but since Venus was played by someone who sounded a lot like a girl, it's hard to tell if she was the one who looked like Red or the one who looked like Hameln. The other one actually was played by a guy (in falsetto, so we couldn't tell who the voice actor was), and was Convict Uranus. Then there was the Prince of the Sun, who looked a lot like the dream demon.

And it was all very amusing as they urged Convict Maria to summon some demon guy and defeat the final boss. And the whole scene inspired Rapunzel to do the same thing, and she cast a big spell that could have killed her if she did it wrong, and defeated the witch! Yay!

Everything was resolved, and then, after casting a healing spell on her sick mother, Rapunzel takes Henrietta off to Witch Island, where they both train in magic and Rapunzel gets Henrietta to start playing Princess Last Fantasy. And Rapunzel decides that she's going to be the super-heroine Magical Traveler Rapunzel, and she's going to make Henrietta join her and do all the magical girl poses and stuff that magical girls do when they fight evil.

After the END screen came up, there was another black screen and the sound of a door opening. Then the text said, "The door to the truth has just opened. Please look back on your memories with your friends." And that means we can finally see about getting an ending where Jacob and Wilhelm don't have to die! Whoa! That's kind of scary, actually. It's actually not that easy to take the wrong path in this game, but it kind of feels like it is. Maybe because of the one time we got so close to the Frog Prince and ended up with the Thorn Prince instead. And then all that time trying to find Rapunzel's path...

In completely random news, they had peanut butter cookie dough at Fresh & Easy today! So we bought some! And we're going to roll it in sugar before we bake it! It makes them taste so good and yet nobody does it anymore.

Today I'm thankful for opening the door to the truth in Labyrinth of Grimm, getting peanut butter cookie dough at Fresh & Easy, also getting ice cream sandwiches, finally having a Twitter icon, and having a ride to the barbecue even if we don't really care for softball or barbecue.
