We saw The Princess and the Frog again last night. Constantly scrutinizing the parts we don't like as much to see if we can figure out how we'd fix them. There are just some places where the dialogue doesn't flow as smoothly as it could, or maybe the background characters look kind of like zombies. Thinking Tiana's a little full of herself. Stuff like that. I did spot Aladdin's carpet this time, which was neat.
Last night we tried Mission to Marzipan ice cream. We had a friend for a short time in college who was obsessed with marzipan. Okay, not really "obsessed," but she mentioned it often and, unless we're remembering incorrectly, passionately. I also had vague memories reading about marzipan in some novels somewhere (maybe the Redwall series? I don't remember) and thinking it sounded really good--it's practically made of sugar, how can it not be? So one day we were with this friend from college at a place that sold marzipan, and she bought some and shared. Athena doesn't remember it at all, though. Maybe it happened when she was sick. Anyway, I didn't actually like the marzipan, and that made me a little sad. I mean, they mold neat little candy sculptures out of it! Something like that ought to be delicious (not that it isn't delicious--you know how picky we are).
Anyway. Fast forward to... some time when Mission to Marzipan ice cream was already out. I remembered seeing it in the store and thinking, "Cute name! Too bad I don't like marzipan." But then on Jeopardy!, it was mentioned in one of the clues, and sweet cream ice cream plus almond cookies sounded really tasty, so when we went grocery shopping on Monday and decided that past events and stress demanded ice cream, we decided to try it out.
And once again I have discovered that I am not really a fan of marzipan (hey that rhymes!). But the ice cream and almond cookies are very very good, so I'm willing to put up with it. I mean, one of the ingredients of the ice cream is liquid sugar. How cool is that? (Very cool, obviously, since it's kept frozen. Aaahh ha ha... ha...) And hey, maybe by the end of it I'll have developed a taste for marzipan after all.
Incidentally, Athena has no problem with marzipan.
The cats continue to drive us crazy. But they're cute so we put up with them. There was one incident where New Cat was trying to get on my bed, so she jumped onto the windowsill from Athena's bed, but she was facing the wrong way. She kept going anyway until she got to the end of the window, then realized her mistake and started walking backward to the other side. It was sooooooo cute♥♥
I think I had more cat stories, but I forgot them. Maybe I blocked them from my mind.
Today I'm thankful for the miracle of getting almost thirty pages of Gakuen Alice translated in one CD's time, having whole grain Cheez-Its to snack on, sweet cream ice cream with almond cookies in it, exciting plans to go fort-building tomorrow, and being very close to keeping our promise to see The Princess and the Frog five times.
