In other news, we got an e-mail pointing out a mistake in our math analogy for this week's column. This is even after we made sure to change our mistake about the derivative of x cubed, and thus we learn to be really really careful about making analogies based on things we learned about ten years ago. We were really mad at the guy at first, but we're over it now. Still, I thought about using the opportunity to rant about smart people and know-it-alls, but I think instead it's time for more Anime Expo photos.
I guess the reason people don't save their not Japanese anime costumes for other conventions is that they can't afford to go to other conventions, and an anime convention is as good a place for cosplay as any? Anyway, this Shredder guy is pretty cool.
But come to think of it, I think we saw him walking around Comic Con, too. Ah well.
We wanted to get a candid shot of the two of them walking around, because that would be so much cooler than them just posing together, with No Name being all following her around and stuff (I know that's bad grammar), but alas our cover was blown. So we told Chihiro to just walk, but she's still learning to be a good model.
I wanted to see if I could capture the enormity of the Anime Expo sign. I'm not sure I succeeded, though.
I tried singing the Steel Samurai theme in text, but it just wasn't working.
After I took this pic, I commented to Athena about my inability to judge lighting situations, and she said that's okay because you never really see Amarant's face anyway.
Okay, so when I took the picture, I assumed our lettering friend was Moko, because she was the only other member of the Love Me Section that we knew about, but when we told her we got a picture, she mentioned something about wondering how her... some other character (Machika, maybe?) cosplay looked in photos or something. We really need to get reading!
I don't really have a comment on this one, except that Wolfwood is awesome. But you all knew that.
This one's for umadoshi!
I think this is my second favorite Ace Attorney cosplayer ever.
(The first is the amazing Edgeworth that was wandering around last year. Maybe someday we'll post those pictures...)
One of these days maybe we'll watch more Code Geass. They have it on Crunchyroll, after all.
At one point, we turned a corner, and suddenly there was this amazing Misa-Misa photo op!
So we stopped these two for a picture, and Yuko started posing but Watanuki... didn't. So we had the following exchange:
Me: Watanuki, why aren't you in the picture!?
Watanuki: Should I be...?
It's been a while since we've seen xxxHOLiC, but we think that was pretty in character of him.
This is one of the cutest Tuxedo Mask cosplayers we've ever seen.
I'm going to bet most people reading this don't recognize this series.
Some of you may remember a while back when we spent like three days doing (almost literally) nothing but trying to beat this one stupid battle in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix? We present to you now...
Scary Boss Guy!!!
(I had to take two pictures because the first one didn't get his keyblade. Ooohh... Scary Boss Guy...)
More Ace Attorney! I wonder if Maya and Ema would really be friends or if they would hate each other.
One of these days maybe we'll watch more Soul Eater (than the one episode we saw when we were in Japan). They have it on the FUNimation website, after all.
Amazing Legend of Zelda group:
We spotted this group but had a hard time getting them together. I guess that's kind of fitting for Death Note, but as a cosplay photographer, I find it irritating. Ah well.
Giant One Piece group:
For some reason we never seem to recognize Cooro from a distance. I kept seeing her as we rode the escalator up to the dealers' room and thinking, "That costume is vaguely familiar. Ah well." Then finally we figured out who she was. Fortunately, she was coming up the escalator, too!
Whew, that's a lot of pictures. And we still have more! We really did take a lot of pictures this year, wow.
Today I'm thankful for finding two amazingly helpful mahjong websites, having cash already withdrawn from our bank account with which to buy groceries while they hold our check, surprise cosplay photo ops, cosplayers being kind enough to follow my orders, and anime streaming.
