Life's pretty much the same as always, except that we watched Whisper of the Heart last night, which had us wishing we could translate for Disney, but when are we ever not wishing that, really? Still, watching their "Behind the Microphone" features always makes it worse, because they keep describing the characters in ways that make us go, "What movie are you watching?" But anyway, I realized after posting yesterday that while all the con reporting is done, we're far from having posted all our con pictures, so we went ahead and re-sized some photos yesterday. Unfortunately, we (or at least I) don't have much patience for editing pictures, so we only got twenty done (though we did sift through a lot of blurry ones and ones that didn't work for other reasons, so we actually looked at a lot more). I think the only real problem is that there are only about three cosplay pics in the bunch, and of course those tend to be the most fun.

The first cosplayer we ran into was one of our AX friends in her very pretty Ciel Phantomhive (Black Butler--it's the new Trinity Blood!) dress!

And her friend, who is also our friend, but not as much because we don't see him as often. We're not sure who he's cosplaying, though.

This is the first Hetalia group we saw, and the only one we got a picture of. But it was the second group who's United States caught on when I walked by chanting "U-S-A! U-S-A!" ...Or was it this group? I don't remember.

This character might be a little hard to recognize from the front, but her pose is cute.

We don't know where the Lucha Griffindor came from, but here's a Pokemon group.

And now for a bunch of pictures from the Opening Ceremonies!

The AX sign:

The SPJA chairwoman and Translator Guy:

You know, I've already forgotten this person's title? I think it's consul-general? I could check, but that entry is soooooo faaaaaar back. Plus I'd have to open another window. Anyway, sadly, this is the best picture I got of him.

A couple of pics of Morning Musume. We're not entirely sure we're allowed to post these pictures, but they didn't take our camera away (just yelled at anybody still using a flash), so we think it's okay. Besides, they're both so blurry, you can't tell if anyone looks good or bad.

They were quite adorable.

Incidentally, I also failed to get any decent pics of Moi dix Mois. It's a shame, because those guys were really amusing. But I don't think that's what they were going for, so it might be for the best that we don't post any pictures of them.

And the man who failed the Morning Musume audition, Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of Trigun!

Screenwriter extraordinaire, Yosuke Kuroda!

Gurren-Lagann character designer... whose name I forgot. Eheh...

Trigun animation director, Satoshi Nishimura!

FullMetal Alchemist (the first) and Gundam 00 director, Seiji Mizushima!
I tried to get a picture of when he ran onto stage with his camcorder, but failed, alas.

Gurren-Lagann animation director... something... Imaishi!

Voice acting legend famous for a bajillion roles including Final Fantasy VII's own Sephiroth, Toshiyuki Morikawa!
I mentioned Kari Wahlgren's observation that Morning Musume starting squeeing a little when they announced him, right?

This may or may not have been when he was delivering his famous Sephiroth line, "Heh heh heh. Cloud, I give you despair":

Here's a shot of the stage with all the guests!
Or actually more like "most" of the guests. This is the wide(?) shot that turned out the best, so it's the one we used.

And in accordance with Anime Expo tradition, we finish the opening ceremonies by drawing one eye in the daruma. This year, the honor went to Morikawa-san:

Tadah! Next time should have a much higher ratio of cosplayers. Now the only question is when will next time be...!?

Today I'm thankful for finally getting our identity theft claim form, getting our new check cards, getting to see Whisper of the Heart, DVD cleaning machines (now we just need to get one), and badtzphoto giving us the link to that article that might help them catch the identity thief!
