So far it's looking like we have confirmation that two of our TokyoPop titles are being kept and one is being dropped. Of course, it's only circumstantial confirmation, and I'm not sure what all I'm allowed to talk about, so that's about as much information as I can give. But I can certainly give opinions! And those opinions are sad. Well, happy and sad. Of course we're happy to keep the titles that seem to be kept, but since we didn't really see the restructure coming (though I don't know if it was really very sudden or if we just weren't paying attention), we never expected them to go away. So the impact of a series going is definitely stronger than one staying. We actually haven't translated that series in months, so at least we weren't in the ------- Zone or anything, but we keep getting subtle reminders of it that make us go, "Aww." I'm still hoping it's not canceled--just on hold.
That leaves two of our regular titles that we don't know about. I'm sure we could find out if we asked, but I don't know. I kind of like the surprise element, and I also like to not bother our boss, who's probably super super busy dealing with this as it is. One of those titles is Fruits Basket, too, so while we can't be completely sure about it, we have a darn good idea.
In other news, we got a shiny new laptop carrying case today! Whee! I don't think our desktop computer will fit in it, though, so we'll have to wait for our laptop to get here before we can use it. We're just amused that they went ahead and shipped it before the laptop itself was ready. We ended up getting a blue one, even though no one voted for blue on our poll. We thought about a gold one, but the model we wanted seemed to not come in gold anymore (maybe it was on backorder?), so our other options were the pink and the blue that we really liked. The laptop is for work, and we were a little concerned that pink might be a bit unprofessional-looking. Not that that really matters as much in our industry, but when we went to order the mouse to go with it, the pink mice were on backorder, so it would seem that fate wanted us to get blue. Also, Mom wanted us to get blue, and she said her vote counts for twelve. We would have ignored her, except that blue was kind of the one I'd had my eye on the whole time. And thus it is. And hopefully, we will be able to get some work done even while we're at AX, so we don't get back and find another million deadlines waiting for us.
Today I'm thankful for getting a lot of work done, shiny laptop carrying cases and mice to match the one we ordered, getting to keep working on the titles we know we get to keep working on, the Fushigi Yuugi TV Series Songs Complete Collection, and the quiet that comes when the roofers leave.
