Second of all, Rightstuf is having a sale on all graphic novels from DC Comics, so if any of you have a few bucks to spare and aren't afraid of cute (but not sappy) romances, check out I Hate You More Than Anyone, because it's awesome, and we understand it's translated rather well.
Third of all, the lack of the Twins' copy of Finding Nemo has been rectified.
Fourth of all, I was very careful not to mention anything about this until now, but last night, I became one of the last people in the world to finish reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was a long and arduous journey, and... and I really don't know how to finish that. But we had to be careful not to say anything, because people who have read things tend to like to comment with little hints about the content so everyone knows they've read it, as indicated by the one time I mentioned it among family and Sarah's boyfriend, and he made a comment that may or may not be taken as a spoiler. Details below.
The one thing he said, and kept repeating it for some reason, like he was trying to get me to ask about it in more detail as if I'm that dumb, was, "I still can't forgive Snape," in the tone of voice that said, "He may have redeemed himself, but I still can't forgive him." Well ha, I suspected he was good all along, and I forgive him! At the beginning of the book I wasn't quite so sure anymore, but then when I read that he "punished" Neville, Ginny, and Luna by sending them into the Forbidden Forest, I figured he must still be a good guy.
Aaaanyway. First I want to point out that, before Deathly Hallows came out, for some reason we were talking about which houses we'd be sorted into with Celeste and Sarah, and I said I would be in Gryffindor, because that's where I want to be sorted, and Celeste was talking all like I had no idea what I was talking about. And then Harry proved me right, so I just wanted to say I told you so. To no one in particular, because Celeste probably isn't reading this.
As twins, I'm not sure we can approve of Fred's death. But as story connoisseurs, we can see why it had to happen. Athena tells me that the last time she put the book down before she finished it was after he died, and Harry had just found out that he had to give himself up, so she was pretty depressed for a while (mostly the rest of the day). That was the same day we went out running errands with Mom, in the pickup truck. I'm not sure why, but somehow the fact that there's no airbag for the middle seat got brought up. I usually sit in the middle seat when we're in the truck, and we had decided long ago that I'm more like Fred and Athena's more like George. So she was pretty worried, in that amusing "I'm being paranoid because I just read something 'ominous' in a book" sort of way, like how people sometimes feel after watching horror movies and stuff. She couldn't say anything though, because I hadn't read Deathly Hallows. So for one part of the drive, she chose to sit in the middle instead. I had no idea she was making such a brave sacrifice *grin*
Percy coming back was awesome. There was a lot of awesomeness with the Weasleys. Molly and Bellatrix was one of the coolest things ever. But back to Percy, it makes me wonder, since we're such fans of Mamoru Miyano♥, who happens to be the Japanese dub voice of Percy for the movies. So I wonder if he read Deathly Hallows (it should be out in Japan now, right?) and got to the part where Percy comes back and was like, "Yes! Yes! I knew he was a good guy!" I can kind of imagine him doing that.
And Tonks and Lupin! They got married! Yay! They had a baby! Squee! ...and they died. Boo. I think that pretty much sums that up.
But man the whole chapter where Harry goes to die, and then the chapter where he's not dead and everything after it was just so incredibly awesome. There were parts during the journey, like when Harry was at Hogwarts and he's like, "No I can't tell anybody!" where I was like, "I'm not sure I like how this is going," but the ending was just wow. It made me all happy inside, and yet sad. Partly because of all the people who died, and partly because it's over. No more Harry Potter. We'll only get to see him again in reruns. I did like to see him as a father though. I always did like the fatherly type characters.
And fifth of all, apparently they make dark chocolate Chex Mix now. This makes the Twins Very Happy.
Sixth of all, I have a rant that was brought about by watching the Chicken Little making of featurette, but I think I'll save that for another time.
Today I'm thankful for the pure awesome that is Harry Potter, chibidrunksanzo sending us peanut butter cookies, Dove chocolate fairy bunnies, dark chocolate Chex Mix, and counting.
