This week we've been distracted by various things, but mostly by our Big Plans. Right now, I think of them as being in the "research and development" stage. We're definitely making progress, but we're going slowly because it's freaking me the heck out. Seriously, we were doing a bit of research last night, and we hit on something that made me think, "It's too shiny! I can't touch it! I can't touch it!!!" Like the main character in Wallflower or Yamato Nadeshiko no something something whatever you wanna call it. I think 2004 messed with my self-esteem a little too much. But never fear! We haven't given up, and we've even made some good progress today.
Our other excuse for the slow progress is it being Thanksgiving weekend.
Anyway, after being blinded by the shiny, we decided it was time for a change of pace to calm our nerves. So we watched Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu, or Hare + Guu, as it's known stateside. Or, to call it by the name everyone we knew in college called it by (I think the term was coined by baranoneko or one of her friends), Trippy Trippy Jungle. When we showed it to some of our college friends on Halloween 2002, one of them commented by saying, "What are they smoking? And why aren't they sharing it with us?" This comment was especially ironic considering that we went to BYU, but our friends made a lot of jokes like that anyway.
What we didn't realize was that it was directed by the same guy who did the xxxHOLiC anime. Apparently he's always been good at directing the animation of Hare/Watanuki type characters. We think anime directors aren't getting enough credit these days. Unless they're Hayao Miyazaki, or... no, just Hayao Miyazaki. Not that he doesn't deserve it, of course.
So I wanted to talk about Hare + Guu, because it's such an awesome series and we loved watching it again... but that's about all I can think of to say on it. Except that everybody should see it!
In other news, DN Angel's making a comeback! It's been on hiatus for...um... *checks volume 11* August 10, 2005. Wow, that's more than two years. And right when the thing we've been wanting to happen for the whole series was about to happen. But now Sugisaki-sensei is finally getting back to it! We are very excited. Now hopefully she'll do four really long chapters right in a row so volume 12 can come out in time for our birthday. That would be awesome. Oh, and more Argentine♥♥♥
Today I'm thankful for DN Angel coming back, the insanity that is Hare nochi Guu, having recording equipment, having obtained More Chocolate from the grocery store (and we even walked, so we had to exercise to get it!), and wheat Chex.
