Today's been pretty stressful, but we've managed to stave the stress off with Kaleido Star: New Wings. There was a part in it where Ken was freaking out and I was like, "Oh yeah, he has a weak heart! Oh no!" because the freaking out we're doing today has both of us feeling like we might be close to heart failure. Not so much at the moment, but at any rate, we're glad we have healthy hearts. Or at least, I'm pretty sure they're healthy.
As of the end of the third disc, we're pretty happy with the way things are going, but we're still very sad that Sora and Yuri didn't destroy Mei and Leon in the circus festival. Man, that sucked. But we totally understand Sora's reasoning, so I guess it's alright. And if Sora'd beaten Leon in that setting, it wouldn't have been very angelic. I think.
We're actually kind of relating to Sora right now, but I'm not sure if we're pushing it or not. It's funny, though, because when we first started interning at TokyoPop, we felt a lot like Sora then (I even have a blog entry about it at HHSLJET), and now that we're watching New Wings, suddenly stuff's going on at TokyoPop that's making us feel like Sora in that half of the series. Of course, part of this relates to our theories on why the new style guide is the way it is, and it could be completely incorrect.
Yuri and Cathy! I wanted to talk about them because they're awesome. It seems to always be the case that once a Junichi Sato character turns evil and back, if the series goes on, that character turns super-awesome (but unfortunately they aren't in it much anymore). And so it's been with Yuri. That's part of why I wanted him and Sora to win at the circus festival. And he was such a good teacher! None of this, "Okay, just do something cool and I'll tell you if it meets with my satisfaction" stuff that Leon's trying to pull. Yuri was always like that, even before he turned evil. It's no wonder he won the prize three years ago. Too bad he turned evil. But now he's made up for it. Still can't tell if he really has a thing for Sora or not. That would be adorable, but Ken has to get Sora.
And Cathy! She's our new hero. Saying, "No Leon and Mei, you're doing it all wrong. Fix it!" It's kind of hard to explain what it is about the way she did it, but she's just awesome. That's all there is to it.
I think this entry might be a little shorter than I'd like, but then I remembered that our journal's being funky, so I don't think it would be a good idea to try to ramble on longer, just in case it doesn't post properly.
Today I'm thankful for getting to sleep in a little, the return of awesome characters, Gurren-Lagann breaking the mold and apparently being 27 episodes long (that's so Gurren-Lagann), having time to watch Kaleido Star, and today actually not turning out crazy yet.
