*contented sigh*

We just finished the Shiny New Thing. We suspected it wouldn't take long, because usually when you really like something, you put yourself on a similar wavelength (or you like it because you're already there), and being on the same wavelength makes things easier to translate. Hopefully we're as much on the wavelength as we think we are, or else the translation may be crap. I don't think it is, though.

This is one of the instances where having to keep things confidential has been really hard. We're just too excited about this one. So all day yesterday, we'd be saying to each other, "We're translating [the Shiny New Thing]!" in hushed but excited tones. Then when Celeste got home from work, we were constantly hitting her with, "Guess what we did today! Work on [the Shiny New Thing]!" At one point, I made a stupid joke, and Celeste said, "You're dumb." And I said with a small sigh, "I know. But that's okay, because I get to work on [the Shiny New Thing]." And she laughed and said, "You're such a nerd."

I still can't stop smiling about it.

And so tomorrow it's back to our normal translating schedule, which actually isn't so normal at present, but in a good way. But for today, we'll continue to bask in the glow of the Shiny New Thing.

Today I'm thankful that we were able to work on the Shiny New Thing and finish it so quickly, having a Mimsy in my lap, random subscriptions to Disney Princess magazine (this kid came to our door trying to build up points for a trip to Italy, and I'm such a sucker), people who are willing to work for their goals, and the Shiny New Thing.
