Today we decided to check out the new Shaman King anime. It was my favorite thing ever when we first started watching the coughcoughfansubscoughcoughhackcough way back when, and back then if a series got licensed, The Thing to do was stop coughhackfansubbingcough and encourage everyone to watch the legal version. Of course, the problem there was that the legal version was from 4Kids, which we actually didn't have a problem with, and we weren't even entirely turned off by the fact that they only do dubs. The real problem is that they only did TV--if you were lucky enough to get a home video release of some kind, it was only a few select episodes--and we were in college without any kind of cable or even a way to view network television. So that was the end of Shaman King for us.

And now it's being animated again, and it's on Netflix, so we can watch it in all kinds of different languages! ...We'll probably only watch it in Japanese, unless we find ourselves with an inordinate amount of free time.

We had just a little free time, so we watched three episodes. I'm definitely not as in love with it as I was back then, and I really couldn't say if it's because it's adapted from the manga differently or because I'm just at a different place in my life. But it's still some good fun!

...I'm not sure I have many more coherent thoughts on it than that. But anyway, it's pretty okay.

Today I'm thankful for getting to watch some Shaman King, having so much anime available these days, not having a giant butter mess to clean up (...not a second one, anyway), also getting to watch some Edens Zero in French, and finishing the first draft we were working on today.
