Cookies: accomplished

The chocolate oatmeal cookie experiment was a success! ...Which means there's not a whole lot else to say about it. We tried the recipe, we managed to make it without destroying the kitchen, and now we have cookies (although if you ask some people, this particular "cookie" is more of a candy). And they taste pretty good, too! ...I guess there is one thing I can report, which is that I made the cookies too small, so I ran out of space on the parchment paper where they needed to cool to doneness. We solved the problem by pouring the rest of the mixture into a couple of bowls and eating it like cereal.

We ended up having a lot of church today, because this week was stake conference, and there was supposed to be a session last night, and we were going to watch it from home, but there were technical difficulties, so they re-broadcast it today instead, in addition to the session that we had this morning. There were a lot of good messages about the Lord helping us through trials, and humility, and other good stuff, but it was also very soothing...which is to say...we were sleepy by the end of it.

And that's why, instead of starting 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, we decided to read some shoujo manga. This time we're back to Kodansha's Dessert imprint, and oh my goodness, these serieseses are so cute. But alas, both of them are already being translated and not by us (Our Precious Conversations and A Condition Called Love). Sigh. But on the bright side, we do get to translate Those Not-So-Sweet Boys, and we even get to work on it tomorrow!

Today I'm thankful for having chocolate oatmeal cookies that are not only edible but pretty darn good, getting to hear a lot of good messages, getting to read some shoujo manga, also getting to have some tasty Baked Ruffles, and getting to work on sparkly shoujo manga tomorrow.
