The healing power of gratitude

This morning, President Nelson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints went live on Facebook or YouTube or one of those things to give a message of hope and healing for the unprecedented times we live in now. Athena and I didn't really expect anything earth-shattering, and in fact he didn't say anything we weren't already aware of, but sometimes you need reminders, and these were good ones.

You can watch the whole thing here (it's about twelve minutes long), but the gist of it is this: you can find healing power in showing gratitude and in praying. So he challenged everyone to say something they're grateful for on social media every day for the next week, and it was really nice, because after asking us to express gratitude, he immediately listed things that he's grateful for. Then he challenged us to pray, and he ended by saying a prayer himself. So I think it was neat to see him lead by example like that.

I think I already wrote a post this very month about how I think gratitude is important, so I'm not going to belabor the point, but I do think it's a good idea to try it out! So if you're reading this, maybe you can try writing down something you're thankful for every day, and see if it's true that being grateful helps you find healing.

Today I'm thankful for a prophet who leads by example, making good progress on work today, getting to play some Kingdom Hearts MoM despite other stuff going on, the Zoom meeting we had this evening going alright, and the song I've been recruited to play looking like it's not going to be too difficult.
