How silly.

Today we took advantage of our Disney+YourSoul account to watch some Silly Symphony cartoons. It's a little bit frustrating that we can't just type "Silly Symphonies" in the search bar and get all of them, and even more frustrating that when you find one, in the "similar videos" list, it only gives us eight more, usually with a Mickey cartoon thrown in, and you can only change the selection if you happen to pick the one out of eight that will pivot the group to another one. Of course, we watched The Brave Little Hen, and since that's Donald's debut, it pivoted us to more Mickey cartoons...

Not that I don't want to watch Mickey cartoons, of course (and in fact, we did watch The Band Concert right after, because come on, it's The Band Concert), just that we want to make sure we know all about the most niche stuff. That being the case, we are more than a little irked that they don't have Lullaby Land, since that's the one with the giant who has a quilt that they recreated using desert plants in the Storybook Land Canal Boats ride at Disneyland. We did see that cartoon many, many years ago. For one birthday, we were each given a video cassette from Disney's Greatest Lullabies, and of course it was on one of them. The videos also had Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod, which also seems to be missing from the Disney+ catalog. Oh well.

Anyway. I'm not sure I have a whole lot to say about the cartoons except that I like them. The Pied Piper one was interesting, because after it started, I was remembering the story and I was like, "Oh yeah, this fairy tale has a pretty horrific ending." Should have known Walt Disney would have put a positive spin on it. Collapse )

Today I'm thankful for getting to watch some very old Disney classics, finally having a chance to get back to Captain Hatteras, getting to have some tasty salted caramel susans for a snack, fond memories of birthday gifts of old, and getting to go to sleep soon.
