Crunch time

It's happened. Our schedule has exploded. We were already looking at a crunch when we realized we had about three days of work left on Saint Young Men and about two available days to do them in. Then this morning we got an email about a volume in a continuing series that we'd been given a vague deadline of sometime in September. Now the deadline is more clear, and on the bright side, it's a few days after the Saint Young Men deadline, and a few days before our Saiyuki deadline!

So in an ideal world where it still only takes us four days to translate a book, we would have just the right amount of time...if we didn't also have two Disneyland visits (which is to say, friends coming from out of town to go to Disneyland) and a trip to Fresno also planned in that time period. And another project of unknown wordiness. I think we can do it, though. We managed to get more done today than expected, so things are looking pretty good. We can never let our guard down of course, but I am optimistic!

Anyway, Gaston and Alice are now in town for Gaston's birthday, and the festivities will commence tomorrow! We haven't really hung out with friends since Anime Expo, so we're pretty excited.

Today I'm thankful for getting more work done than expected, getting to chat with Gaston on the phone, Alice hearing that we had a lot of work to do and kindly reminding Gaston that we can chat tomorrow (we do like talking to people, but she's right--we needed to work), getting to hang out with Gaston and Alice tomorrow and some of Wednesday, and having time to watch an episode of Miraculous before bed.
