Patient reminders

Today had another couple of great sessions of General Conference. Elder Renlund gave a talk about how Heavenly Father wants to bless us, and how accessing those blessings is like lighting the match to start a huge bonfire--you don't have to do a lot to get a lot of blessings, but you do have to do something. It was a really great talk, but there was one sentence in it that was especially important for us, and it was the first talk of the day, so by now I'm paraphrasing, but he pointed out that blessings don't always come right away and we have to trust in the Lord's timing, so if you're still waiting on good things to come, don't freak out about what you might be doing wrong or what more you need to do. When Athena and I feel like we've been in a rut for too long, we have a habit of wondering those very things, so it's nice to be reminded that sometimes it's just a timing thing.

Then there was another talk by Elder McKay about how the Lord doesn't always deliver us from our trials right away, but He does always give us blessings to help us get through them. That was another one that really helped us. ...And it's also one of those things that had me going, "Oh yeah, I know that!" but sometimes you just need it pointed out again.

Other than that, the main message I took away was to keep trying to improve. It was a really great conference, and I'm glad the talks will be available to read again, because I think they'll be helpful to us in the coming months.

Today I'm thankful for another great General Conference, getting to hang out with Page, today's pancakes being especially delicious, getting to watch some Story Trek, and finally having Line.
