We don't know where the phrase "under the weather" came from exactly, but on days like today, we like to think we have some idea. The air pressure's been kinda weird with little rainstorms floating in and out. We think that's why Page was barely eating for the last couple of days (she's been fine today, though, we think), and we think it's part of what sapped all our energy today. Athena said it was like even the air was too heavy to lift. We also suspect that if your body is healthy enough, it can handle weird air pressure days, but we're not sure exactly what we need to accomplish that. For today, we bought some juice boxes at the grocery store, and I think that may have helped. Either that, or shortly after we had juice, the air pressure got to be something more manageable for us.
But anyway, today was the first day of General Conference! So far, the main recurring theme, at least as far as messages we personally are taking away from it, is, "Just keep going with your current efforts to keep the commandments, but do it better." One of the things that really stood out to me is that I need to stop shying away from talking about religion. It's something I'm happy to talk about when it comes up, but I don't usually bring it up myself, like I used to always do with Disneyland. I think it will take some effort...
Our favorite talk so far was one about how God answers prayers. It was a bunch of stuff we already know and have been telling ourselves for weeks, but it's nice to have it reinforced by somebody else. The main thing is that Heavenly Father knows us and is well aware of what's going on in our lives, and He wants what's best for us, so if we're not getting what we want right now, it just means there's something better in store for us later. I'm kind of excited to see what life brings me! ...But also very tired. But I'll get over it.
Today I'm thankful for another great General Conference, juice boxes, having plans to make something chocolaty tomorrow, getting to go grocery shopping in beautiful weather (regardless of the air pressure), and seeing a hummingbird and a golden sparrow on the way to the store (not sure if the golden bird was a sparrow, but it was roughly the same size and shiny and golden).
