Birthday weekend

Day one of our birthday weekend seems to be a success. I mean, all we did was go grocery shopping and read manga, but sometimes that's all you need. It might have been better without the grocery shopping, actually, but it's good to get out of the house, and we got some treats. The candy will be saved, though, because it's for when we're wiped out from work. But we have cookie dough we can bake tomorrow. And! we have cornbread mix! It's the "just add water" kind because we're still afraid of buying eggs (and we had to buy a whole gallon of milk, too, so walking home with a whole gallon of milk and eggs just seemed like a bad idea), but we're going to see if cornbread and honey is a viable food option, and if it pans out, we might venture into the egg-requiring variety of mix.

And! we bought ourselves a happy birthday balloon, which is pretty and blue and makes us happy.

Other than that, we read manga. It's so slow going, though. I don't know if there's something wrong with us...it's really more like the time evaporation problem. And the fact that there's a fair amount of dialogue, and complicated world-building. So now we're about finished with three volumes! Just fifteen more to go! Aaahhh... Oh well. I'm sure we'll find a way to get caught up before we need to be caught up.

Today I'm thankful for a nice relaxing Saturday, cornbread mix, our shiny happy birthday balloon, Page hanging out with us while we read manga, and Disneyland not opening until nine on Monday.
