Going retro

In an act of defiance after Dad's annoying comments last week, today we decided to watch the My Little Pony movie 1986. The verdict? it was a little slow, but not any worse than any other movie we've hated recently. It started out good but got kind of tiresome, like it ran out of steam. Except that that's where all the action scenes were, so I guess they decided they didn't need fun songs anymore because people love action scenes. We don't love action scenes, so it got tiresome. And wowie, there was a lot of stuff packed into that movie. But anyway, if there were anything in that movie that would make me hate to watch it again for all eternity, I'd say it's just the '80s animation style that you find in pretty much any animated movie from the '80s except the Disney ones.

The one thing I'm still confused about is that I have clear memories of an old My Little Pony song where I think it was Meghan who convinced all the baby ponies to take a nap by singing "Let's Not Take a Nap," but it wasn't in this movie, and now I have no idea where it came from. Athena seems to remember a My Little Pony something-or-other that had a cat lady, and suggests it comes from that one, but she doesn't know if that one was a musical, and I don't remember it at all, except for maybe that song. Life is full of mysteries.

Today I'm thankful for getting to reevaluate the 1986 My Little Pony Movie, Flutter Ponies, getting to read more Harry Potter, getting to revisit the story of Joseph from the Old Testament, and the clever way they worked the Smooz into My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
