Danny Phantom revisited

One of these days, we're going to get our schedule worked out so we have time to post to LJ every day again... In the meantime, missing a day and coming back is kind of awkward, like, "What am I doing here again? Oh yeah, writing something." I don't know; it's probably just me. On the plus side, we finished our translation yesterday, so we're ready to get to work on an all new thing on Monday without also being in the middle of a bunch of other things! Yay! And we got to go hang out with people at the ward social last night. It was good times.

Anyway, I've been wanting to talk about Danny Phantom. It was our favorite show back about ten years ago (I can't believe it's that old!), and we started watching it on Hulu again last week. Its awesomeness, paired with Hulu's unusual decision to let us watch it 100% commercial free, is really helping us find joy in life again. ...What we're saying is, we're really really tired from all the working and not taking enough time to relax, but Danny Phantom is extra relaxing, so it helps a lot.

We like it so much, that I wanted to write a post about why we like it so much, but then I remembered that I already did! About ten years ago! So we found it in our LJ archive and reread it and were pretty much like, "Yup, that about sums it up."

What I personally found the most interesting about that post is that we've spent so much time analyzing certain movies that we didn't like in an attempt to figure out why we didn't like them, and every time we had forgotten about all previous analyses, but we always came to the same conclusion. Like how I decided I don't like Frozen because I don't really see any of the characters (except Olaf and Sven) caring about anybody else. Then I read this post about Danny Phantom, and there it is: I like it because the characters care about people.

Anyway, there you have it. Danny Phantom. It's awesome.

Today I'm thankful for Danny Phantom being available on Hulu, finally getting to order The Well-Tempered Clavier from Amazon, getting Page's cat food (she likes one very specific type of cat food that we can't get at the grocery store, and for some reason we always fall into the trap of, "We're running out; maybe we can just try this grocery store food!" It never ends well), having a good time at the ward social last night, and getting to translate a very interesting new series.
