tadah

Conference and Tangled day

Today was another good General Conference. There was one talk...I think it was President Eyring's, but it's all a blur now...about turning sympathy into action, and it reminded me of something we read on Twitter, about after the earthquake in Japan. There was a kid waiting patiently in line at the store to buy some candy, but while waiting, the kid saw a jar on the counter asking for donations to help the relief efforts. When he got to the front of the line, he put his candy back on the shelf and put his money in the jar. And as the kid walked away, the cashier's voice was shaking as he thanked the child.

After Conference, we went to Mom's house for ice cream and Tangled! Tadah! So now Mom has finally seen it, but she didn't like it, because Mother Gothel reminded her of somebody in real life that she doesn't like. (Incidentally, she didn't like the Lion King when she first saw it for similar reasons.) Actually, we're exaggerating. Mom really did like the movie, but she was biased against it. Celeste decided at one point that Mom should make "Mother Knows Best" her ringtone, and since Mom hadn't seen the movie, Celeste went and found that clip online to show to her. We heard about it when we asked Mom if she was excited to see Tangled, and she said the excerpt she'd seen had her concerned. And this is why it's important not to take things out of context.

Anyway. I feel like we did have something new to say about the movie this time, but I can't remember what it is now. Ah well.

Today I'm thankful for having yummy ice cream with graham cracker pie crust in it, getting to see Tangled again, more great General Conference talks, Oreo not coughing so much anymore, and having time to read Kieli today.
