We're does the time go?

Today was an average, ordinary day. We had just turned in a translation and done our brain training, and it was literally right when I was getting up to get the phone and call Mom to see if we could get a ride to the grocery store that the day exploded. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

A friend from church called and asked if he could bring another friend of to play Nintendo DS. Friend 2 doesn't own a DS, so he asked for Mom's number so he could call her and see if they could borrow Celeste's DS, since that's where he suspected she/it was. That ruled out calling Mom while we waited to see what the DS situation was, but when he finally called back he asked me if it was alright if Sarah came too. When I said it was fine, he said that was good, because he'd already asked her and she said yes.

So all three of them came over at about four-thirty, and we played games on our DSes until about nine, when we all realized that we were starving (the Twins aren't so good at feeding people, as we are recluses as well as picky eaters, who happen to like a lot of slightly unusual food that a lot of other people don't care for). That was also when we realized, after asking Friend 2 if he was alright, as he had been coughing for a while, that he was allergic to cats. We felt really bad at this point, but there wasn't a whole lot we could have done anyway, since the cats were already hiding. So we decided to relocate to Friend 1's apartment.

After having an adventure with Friend 1's toaster and strawberry milkshake Poptarts, the pizza was picked up, and we all ate while Friend 1 decided we would play "I Have Never." Apparently it was all a ploy to see if Sarah had kissed some guy in the ward. When they realized it wasn't working, Friend 2 decided to just call the guy and ask him. Poor Sarah was blushing like crazy.

At some point during the evening someone mentioned Celeste having joined the military. We knew she was thinking about it, but we didn't know it was official, so I'm still not entirely convinced it's true, but on the way home Friend 2 told us she's told a ton of people. It just goes to show how incredibly out of the loop we are, even with immediate relatives who live in the same town. Oy.

When the pizza was gone, we watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off, so we didn't get home until after midnight. We checked the mail and found out we'd had a package, which had us a little curious for a while until we remembered that we'd recently made an order from RightStuf. Still can't get it until tomorrow, but we need to pay rent anyway, so it all works out. We also got sent extra copies of the Disney Movie Club feature title for November. That's the second time this has happened; we really need to contact them about it or something. I guess we could just send it back.

But the worst(?) part of the day disappearing like that is it happened before TokyoPop's office hours ended, which means it wasn't until we got back (after midnight, remember) that we discovered our new work order, according to which our next deadline is tomorrow. For some serieses that's doable, but not Fruits Basket. So hopefully we'll get that cleared up, but it would have been nice to get it cleared up today. Oh well, at least we had a good time.

And we still don't have a ride to the grocery store. *sigh*

Today I'm thankful for getting to play DS with people, Friend 2 being safely away from our cats (we really do feel bad!), yummy pizza for dinner, day explosions happening after we got our work done, and finally being home and able to go to bed. After sending one more e-mail.

No time no time no time!!!

It's kind of funny, because we never saw that "privileged meme" until kabochan posted it saying she's seen it all over and figured she might as well join in, and then like the next four entries in our friends list were other people doing that meme. But we're not going to do that meme because! we have no time. Or we're under the illusion that we have no time. We haven't quite figured out which yet.

We haven't heard back from our boss regarding our Fruits Basket deadline, so we figure our best bet is to just finish it as soon as we can. Except that that's not going to happen by the end of the work day, no matter how hard we work, so we figure it's alright to take it a little bit easy. There's some crazy stuff happening in this volume, that's for sure.

It's raining like pretty hard outside, which is why I think Oreo is hiding under the blankets right now, since it's not very cold. This was a problem earlier when I climbed onto my bed to do brain training and hit him hard with my knee, poor guy. I had a minor panic attack, but all he did was meow once. I was still panicking though, so I had to check if he was breathing (that's about all I could tell with him so thoroughly under the blankets).

I feel like I had more to talk about, but not. At any rate, it might be for the best for us to get a snack and then get back to work.

Today I'm thankful for getting our package from RightStuf, getting pretty new manga to translate, being able to work as a team and thereby get translations done a lot faster, having a pretty Fruits Basket CD to listen to while we work, and the idea that Revenant Wings and Neo Angelique aren't going anywhere and will still be available when we finally have time to play them.
