Now the subject line needs an explanation. But first! I want to talk about the alarm clock that was listed in Animaxis's newsletter this week. It's a D. Gray-Man Kanda voice alarm clock, and we waaaaaant it. But we're torn for a few reasons. One, it's kind of expensive. Two, while it is Kanda with his sexy sexy Takahiro Sakurai♥ voice, Kanda's kind of a jerk (make that really a jerk), so all the messages are like, "This is such a hassle. Why do I have to wake you up? Get up now!" I'm especially amused by the one that ends with, "Follow me if you want to live!" But anyway, while it is highly amusing, words are powerful, and it might not be so good for one's emotional/spiritual health to constantly be woken up by jerkface Kanda. If only they had a voice alarm clock of one of Sakurai-san's nicer characters. Like Sasame. Mmm....

Still, Kanda yelling at us to get up might make us indignant enough to actually do so, so it might be helpful! And we do still have our other alarm clock in case we get sick of it. Oh, this is such a tough decision!

So in explanation of the subject line, I wanted to copy and paste one of Kanda's alarm clock messages from the Animaxis website, but they've got it set up so I can't copy, so instead I ended up pasting the last thing that we looked up while translating (first we look it up on our JWPce program, and then if we're not satisfied, since it's easier than changing the input setting to Japanese, we copy and paste into the dictionary at Infoseek). And since でなおし(denaoshi) means "try again," it was hilarious! Especially because I tried it three or four times before I gave up. So we left it.

We still have vague plottings to try and get a few more costumes done before AX, which might be quite a feat since we still have no guarantee of getting anywhere to buy materials. But we have a Strategy that might make Cheshire Hikaru & Kaoru very easy to make. So we'll see. It's so weird not having costumes, because since all my stress dreams used to be about being at AX without costumes, thinking about AX being upon us and not having costumes is like a dream come true! Only a stressful one, so it kind of sucks. So here's hoping we can get all the stuff we need. But we do have Zorn and Thorn, so hopefully they'll go over pretty well at the Final Fantasy gathering, even if they're missing a few details.

Last night we decided to check out "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" Now we want to go on that show, because we think we might actually make some money. We're not sure that we'd make it to a million, but at least we wouldn't have too many problems saying to the American public that we're not smarter than fifth graders if we had to bow out in the middle. Last night, the guy went though almost every question, and we only missed one question. I had no idea killer whales were a type of dolphin. Okay, so I thought it might be the case, since once the question was asked we started to analyze it. It was really great, too, because I saw that they have geography categories and figured if I got stuck anywhere it would be there, because geography is my weakness. And the question was, "What city is the capital of Japan?" And I thought, "Oh I know this one!" It was very exciting.

Today I'm thankful for Animaxis newsletters, amusing copy and paste adventures, remembering helpful things from Girl Scouts, the fact that most manga we translate is not in rough draft form, and being at least as smart as one fifth grader out there.
