Oh hey, it's Nakago's birthday. Yippee...?

That must be it! He's behind this! Our evening has been cruelly stolen away from us!! All we wanted to do was hunt some marks in Final Fantasy XII!!!!

Though thinking about it logically, that possibility has not been entirely ruled out, hunting marks.

So Mom called in the middle of a totally awesome episode of Eyeshield21 (fortunately not at any of the climactic bits) to ask if we could be at her place for when the kids get dropped off, and then stay there until she and Steve get back from the temple. Sarah of course has a life, and therefore can't be bothered to do it herself. But it's temple impact month, and so we can't just say no. We couldn't really say no anyway, because we're saps. It's really not so bad, except that we were looking forward to more FF12, like always.

Although we must say this isn't entirely unexpected, since there hasn't been a single Friday when they haven't taken us away since we got the game. Of course, this is only the third Friday since it came out, but that's beside the point. But two Fridays in a row is unusual, let alone three. It must be a conspiracy. And here I had stopped talking about it like it was and everything.

But like I said, the FF12 possibility hasn't been ruled out entirely, since they have a PS2, but Athena says she can't see herself being comfortable playing video games in their house, and besides, the idea of playing our sparkly new game there is just not very appealing.

It doesn't help that today has already been stressful enough. It turned out to be good stress, but we nearly had heart attacks when ...

*blink blink*

...And I just got a phonecall from Mom telling us that Sarah's going to stay home and babysit. It's rather disconcerting, after writing all of that, but it's definitely a good thing, so I take back my conspiracy comment.

Anyway, getting back to the story I've been composing in my head all day, we nearly had heart attacks when we checked our e-mail this morning. There was an e-mail from our boss at Del Rey that was questions about the translation we turned in. Being as insecure as we are, our first thought is, "Oh no! We suck! We're so fired!" even though we know that our translations tend to be at least as good as a lot of legitimate subtitles we've seen.

As it turns out, we're not fired, and she was asking if we wanted to continue translating the series, as well as for clarification on some specific bits in the script that were kind of weird and/or obscure. Of course, because of those questions we're like, "Oh! We're smarter than that! We should have known those bits were confusing! We did know some of them were!! Why oh why oh why didn't we mention those things in the notes!?" Seriously, I feel like Ritsu from Fruits Basket. I'M SOOOOOORRRRRRRYYYYYY!!!!!!!

So we were freaking out for a long time after that. But thinking about it now, it's probably a good sign that she had so few questions. And people asking questions is good, because communication is a good, good thing. I think it may have something to do with the fact that we don't get a whole lot of questions from TokyoPop people, so we're not used to it. But yeah. We need a good "freaking out" icon.

Later she gave us the deadlines for the next three books in the series, and it's looking like we'll be having steady work for quite some time. This is a good thing, but we're still recovering from the impact of the crazy crazy thing, so we're like, "We're never going to have free time again..." which is part of why we were so upset about Mom calling earlier. It's really weird that she called back, though, because we really didn't complain about it much until after we hung up, and obviously this entry hadn't been posted yet. It's easier for everyone this way, though, because then nobody has to come get us, and we don't have to work out how Celeste will get into the apartment after work.

She (our boss at Del Rey, now; see how freaked out I am? I'm totally jumping around) also gave us feedback on the summary we wrote, which she said was good but that in the future she wants us to play up this other angle. And we're like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I'M SOOOOOORRRRRRRYYYYY!!!!

But it was our first cover, so it's probably okay. And we're not fired, so that's probably a good sign. I don't know why we get so much more worked up about these things than we do about arguing with people. Maybe because when we argue, we're usually closer to those people and have a better idea of where we stand, whereas with our boss from Del Rey, we're still not sure, and we don't want to be hated or fired.

Anyway, I think I've calmed down enough now. So I guess we'll finish our anime quota for the day (since we have time now) and see what happens from there. We might watch even more anime, or play Final Fantasy XII, or read more of the CMX series. I wish there was a new Danny Phantom tonight. Ah well.

Today I'm thankful that we don't have to babysit, that we get to continue working on the Del Rey series, and for getting a check from TokyoPop, not freaking out anymore for now, and the current opening to Eyeshield21. Maybe I was already thankful for that last one, but I'm very, very thankful for it.

PS: We're using our Sora icon because his voice actor is Sena in Eyeshield21, and thoughts of Eyeshield21 are definitely helping in the calming down.
