Taking the day off.

We turned in another translation this morning, so we're taking the rest of the day off. And now we're caught up on all our anime, including the first episode of Chevalier D'Eon, which we found out was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, who also directed Rurouni Kenshin and GetBackers. He was at AX'03, and now we're like best buds! Only not really. But he did wave to us when he saw us in the dealers' room.

I'm not sure what we're going to do with the rest of our day. But the "Who wants to be a Superhero?" finale is on tonight! That'll only take an hour, but it will be awesome. We hope Feedback wins. We'll have to make sure to keep an eye out for when the new comic comes out.

One of the anime serieses we're really enjoying this season is Night Head Genesis. Neither of us actually thinks it's necessarily a very good series, but we like it a lot anyway. It's about these two brothers with psychic powers, and the one kept getting in trouble growing up for hurting people with his powers and the other is full of angst because he can read people's minds, and of course he only ends up reading the minds of people who are completely evil and psycho. And he's a very nice boy. Kind of reminds us of Omi, only played by Akira Ishida.

I think they said something in the series about their powers attracting psycho people, so at least they've given a reason, however weak, that Naoya can't have some nice cheerful friends. We were watching one episode and saying to each other that he needs some good friends with cheerful thoughts, like Tamaki. It's probably Naoto's fault he doesn't, being as unsociable as he is. Punk.

Tsubasa Chronicle is back, and as it turns out it was better that they took a break after the last episode, because after this episode would have been more evil. But Athena's like, "I almost would have expected them to take the break after this episode. I mean, if you're going to go out after a dramatic cliffhanger, go out after a dramatic cliffhanger, you know?"

That's right! I wanted to talk about Lagoon Engine. Because when we started watching Higurashi no Naku Koroni, I thought, "This premise is very familiar somehow..." And then we started working on Lagoon Engine 5 and I remembered why. They're taking summer vacation in a town that's also being cursed because of stuff like dam construction. It added an interesting new dimension to what's normally a pretty cute series. Of course Higurashi is pretty cute, too... And it has been said that Lagoon Engine is darker than DN Angel. Neither of us really thought that was the case until volume 5.

I guess that's all. Today I'm thankful for having a day off, watching new anime, the "Who wants to be a Superhero?" finale, Night Head Genesis, and starting work on a new series tomorrow.
