Oh yeah!

We keep finding this out again and again, and I keep forgetting to mention it, but I think we discovered where the whole console RPG/spoony thing started! Okay, okay, so we all know where it started. It started with Tellah calling Gilbert or Edward or whatever his name is that he's a spoony bard. But we figured out why!

See, we come across this one word that has a pretty obvious meaning, but since we're not really familiar with the English terminology for it, we keep looking it up anyway, in case our dictionaries give us something that could work better than just a direct translation. The word is "onna-zuki," a combination of "onna (woman)" and "suki (to be fond of)," and our JWPce dictionary gives us this definition: (n) fondness for women, woman admirer, lustful man, spoony.

Aha! So we looked up "spoony" at dictionary.com, and these are the definitions we get: 1. Enamored in a silly or sentimental way. 2. Feebly sentimental; gushy.

So it really had nothing to do with censorship. It was just an accurate translation using an apparently uncommon word, like volplane or agglutinate. And since he's a bard, spoony probably describes him very well.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Today I'm thankful for Nestle's Butterfinger bars, obscure words, solving mysteries, chocolate cake with chocolate mousse frosting, and having time to watch anime before Danny Phantom.
