The Road to Fame

They finally posted a review of Lagoon Engine at AnimeonDVD.com! It's nice that people noticed it. We only looked at the text/translation part of the review, partly because we've already read it so we know how we feel about it, and partly because all we really want to know is how people liked our translation. Lagoon Engine was one we especially wanted to know about, because we had been told that they weren't going to use a re-writer on it.

And happily, we got a good review! The only problem the reviewer had was that Yen talks too smart for a twelve-year-old. We wanted to go on the forums and explain why that was, but I don't remember my password, and we couldn't find a thread where they were talking about that anyway. See, if you read Lagoon Engine, you'll notice that Yen has read just about every book in the library. (His family's library, anyway, but his family has a pretty impressive library.) We grew up with people who have read a lot of books, so we happen to know that they can use big words. Of course, the examples the reviewer used ("pragmatic" and "billet-doux") were added by... an editor somewhere along the way, probably... because Athena and I don't know words like that. Eheh...

We spent a bunch of time watching some of the anime for this season. Soooo much good anime! Right now I'm just really excited because we found Soichiro Hoshi. He gets to be the mysterious guy that knows everything in MAR. I'm so excited!!

We also kind of found him in Ueki no Housoku, translate it how you will. But that was because we were looking at the character page at the TV Tokyo site, not because we actually heard him. I was taken off guard by the fact that it didn't list the voice actor for Ishida-san's character. Oh well.

And! Ishida-san is in two things we've seen so far! Ueki no Housoku, as I've already mentioned, and Erementar Gerad (I decide to go with the Japanese English spelling, no matter how strange), which we knew before we saw it. Sad that we didn't get to hear him and squeal though, but we did for Ueki no Housoku, so it's all good. His character reminds me of Zidane--an orphan who was picked up by air pirates. Seeing him run around the airship reminds me of some earlier scenes in FFIX. I have to admit, though, when I see Coud, I hear Naozumi Takahashi.

But even the stuff that doesn't have our favorite voice actors is awesome! We watched Ichigo 100%, which is actually kind of messed up, but highly entertaining. It's funny because the main guy is played by Kenichi Suzumura, and the one chick is played by Mamiko Noto (who played his love interest in X TV), and the other chick is played by Megumi Toyoguchi (who played his love interest (so to speak) in Gals!). Two more girls have yet to show up... We're anxious to see which of his other characters' love interests he'll be reunited with. And I promise the show is entertaining even without making obscure voice actor connections.
