I can't believe we were gone all day.

Actually I can, but I wish it hadn't been the case. Mom called yesterday and asked if we would come over today to proofread a financial report for her. The report is 549 pages long. We probably could have finished it if we hadn't taken such a long lunch, but that wasn't our fault; it was because Mom had to pick up some medicine for Steve. But we still have about a hundred pages left, so we have to go back tomorrow (grief...) (<--somebody did that on the Honyaku Mailing List and we thought it was neat and wanted to give it a try. What do you think?)

Celeste was our means of transportation over there, so she was hanging out being bored until her boyfriend showed up, at about which point they decided to go to our apartment to watch a DVD. This was only slightly annoying because we went to Mom's place last night on Celeste's insistence because Mom's place has more interesting stuff to do. The logical explanation is that Mom's place has more fun stuff to do when Celeste can't play Tactics and people aren't using both rooms with TVs at Mom's place to work.

Because Sarah didn't have a Young Women's activity tonight, Mom said it would be the ideal chance to get her to a fabric store to get material for a Halloween costume. So after we stopped working on the report, we waited for Steve to get back so we could go eat dinner. But that took too long and Mom was really tired anyway, so we ended up not buying material. It's just as well; we got home that much sooner. And I feel like I'm going to be making all these pretty Halloween costumes but none for me and Athena. (grief...)

And though I was able to describe our day in three paragraphs, I feel like it has been very, very long. And yet very short at the same time. Athena's analogy is accurate though: proofreading that report is like swimming in a cold pool--once you get started and you get used to it, it's fine, but as soon as you stop, the idea of getting back to it is unbearable.

Tonight I'm thankful for finally being home, making a little extra money, discovering that I may be more detail-oriented than I thought I was, free food most of the day, and a chance to tell Steve that his attitude toward people can hurt them without sounding like I'm pouting myself.
