"Here I come to save the day!"

Wow, our friends list seems so deserted. I guess that's what happens when summer comes along and everyone goes on vacation. Still, it's sad and lonely.

Last night's "Who wants to be a Superhero?" was awesome. We (or maybe it was Celeste, based on our suggestion) to watch it, but she says it's like watching a car accident or a train wreck. You just can't look away. It seems kind of weird that someone who likes Survivor would find "Who wants to be a Superhero?" to be a guilty pleasure, but I guess it's because of the costumes.

The other day at church, we mentioned the show to a friend and she said, "That's the one where those kids--I'm sorry, 'adults'--run around in costumes, right?" That kind of hurt, because we thought she was less judgmental than that. And then we start to wonder what she thinks of us, wandering around conventions in costume and stuff. It's kind of depressing.

But on a happier note, here are some more thoughts on last night's episode.

This week they had a challenge where they had to run through a backyard with two trained attack dogs. After Feedback and Monkey Woman (I keep wanting to call her Monkey Girl) failed the last challenge, they were both determined not to fail again, and it was heartwarming to see them. It took Monkey Woman almost ten minutes to get across the yard, but she didn't give up, and that was awesome. We were so proud of them.

And also, I just wanted to say, "I CALLED IT!!" Though I didn't call it exactly, so maybe I shouldn't brag. When Nitro G was eliminated last week and Stan Lee said, "I'm sure I'll see you again," I came up with this theory that they'd bring back some of the eliminated heroes as supervillains, and now my theory has been proven. I should have known it would start with Iron Enforcer, since he was almost eliminated three times before he actually was, and since he's clearly evil. I thought since he wasn't eliminated either of the first two times, Mr. Lee was trying to teach him a lesson. Now I know he was just waiting until the opportune moment, when it would be most fitting and dramatic to give him his evil costume makeover.

But now I'm questioning the "reality" of this reality show. It seems pretty obvious that Iron Enforcer was meant to be a supervillain this entire time, since he was always talking about killing people, and there was talk of him being on steroids and stuff. And it would explain why he called uncle when he was a foot away from the door in the challenge with the dogs. My theory is that either he was only sort of a plant and knew he needed to be eliminated but didn't know when, or that he was entirely a plant and just wanted to be on the elimination block for every elimination.

It was really awesome how he went supervillain, too. Now I'm hoping they'll get the other guys who were eliminated to join him. It's kind of weird that Stan Lee is directing everything on both sides, though. It's like he's Queen Serenity and Queen Metallia at the same time. Only male. Maybe I need a better analogy.

I can't wait for next week's episode!

Today I'm thankful for cute bookmarks from the Disney Movie Club, new anime with Ishida-san, cocoa beans, vanilla beans, and pretzel sticks.
