A bit of inspiration

I'm not sure I have anything to write about today. I have been thinking about inspiration, though, thanks to some talk on Facebook, and I thought I might want to tell people about an experience we had with inspiration...but I think I've already told it on LiveJournal. It had to do with Fire Force and Infernals.

For those of you who don't remember, the Japanese word for Infernal is "homurabito," which literally means "flame person." And it is surprisingly difficult to come up with an English rendering of that that is not problematic. We tried all kinds of things, we thought about using something Latin, like the scientific names of animals, like homo erectus or homo sapiens, but homo flammus seemed even wronger. We talked it over with our little sister who is certified to teach English. We came up with a word we thought would be okay, and we were just about ready to finalize our script and turn it in.

But first! we had a quick thought to check a thesaurus, you know, just in case. I'm pretty sure that thought was inspiration, because we checked the thesaurus on "flame" (I think), and right there as obvious as anything was the word "inferno." And we saw it and went, "Of course!!!" And that's how we came up with Infernals. Tadah! And I think that's just one of many ways people can get inspiration.

Today I'm thankful for inspiration, finishing our work for today, getting our cookie delivery, getting to chat with Cecille, and it being almost time to sleep.
