Last night, we rang in the new year with our neighbors on Animal Crossing, and to be honest, it was probably the liveliest New Year's celebration we've had in years. We turned Animal Crossing back on an hour before the countdown, and once we'd got everyone wearing their happy new year hats, we didn't know what to do, so we went fishing for a while. About ten minutes before midnight, Athena remembered that we might want to see about catching some late-night sea creatures, so she hopped into the ocean and immediately caught our first spiny lobster! Tadah! ...And it's a good thing, too, because our Critterpedia told us it was only sticking around through the end of December. Hopefully it's the only one of those we missed!
Before that, we finished up the story in Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory. And boy howdy, that thing just got super meta at the end, all talking about how Sora must be in some fictional world. We saw the movie at the end of KH3! We know he's in Tokyo!
...But now they're saying he's in Quadratum. It was clearly Tokyo, though. Maybe they decided to change it. Maybe they had to change it because Disney didn't want to let them use The World Ends With You characters. Maybe originally they wanted, instead of being a fictional world, to be the world where dead people go, because that's kind of the premise of The World Ends With You, but then somebody along the line was like, "No, we can't talk about the afterlife." Maybe it was Disney again and they were like, "We just did a movie where they go to the after life, and if it doesn't match that, you can't do it." Or something. I don't know. I guess it will make sense when the next Kingdom Hearts game comes out in however many years.
Oh! I also started the new year by being asked to give a talk in church next week. Since tomorrow is fast & testimony meeting, I'll be giving the first official talk of the new year! ...I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Today I'm thankful for having a lovely New Year's countdown with our Animal Crossing friends, getting to play to the end of Melody of Memory, getting to sleep in this morning, catching a spiny lobster before they disappeared for nine months, and also getting to sleep in tomorrow.
