Going to church

Today we actually went to church! Tadah! I mean, there weren't a lot of other people there. I think I mentioned two weeks ago that we've been doing Zoom church. The first time we did it, they tried to provide an opening and closing hymn by playing recordings of the Tabernacle Choir, but the audio didn't work out so good. So for this week, I played the organ while Athena basically sang a solo that hopefully people at home sang along with. Neither of us had a screen, so we don't have any idea what was going on outside the chapel. All I know is that the singing wasn't a whole lot quieter than it is even with the whole congregation...

Anyway. Since the talks were on having faith through trials, one of the hymns we picked was "How Firm a Foundation." We kind of wanted to sing all seven verses, but we don't have the guts to do that kind of thing yet, even knowing that the meeting probably wouldn't go nearly as long as the allotted hour we had. Still, the verses that don't usually get sung are really, really good, so I'm just going to share one here.

How Firm a Foundation Verse 5
When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply.
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, thy dross to consume,
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.

Today I'm thankful for finally having our temple recommends renewed, getting to help with the music at church, getting to watch more of The Repair Shop, getting to start reading Jules Vernes' In Search of the Castaways, and getting to watch more Dad of Light.
