Beating the heat

Today was a day of not wanting to do anything, because we're in the middle of a heatwave, it being summer and all. The temperatures had been pretty mild around here all summer, for which we were very grateful, but now they're going up, and we can't really complain, because it was bound to happen eventually. We had to go grocery shopping today, and we were kind of afraid, but it turned out to not be so bad, so that's another thing to be thankful for. But other than that, we just played more Animal Crossing. (We finally caught a soft-shelled turtle!)

We also! looked at some of my DNA results from Ancestry! Tadah! I don't think I mentioned this here, but I did an Ancestry DNA test. We ordered the "Traits" feature with it, which tells you things like are you likely to have red hair or a cleft chin or whatever. I wanted it so we could give people scientific proof that our tastebuds are different than most people's, and sure enough, it says based on my genotype I probably have a sensitivity to bitterness, as well as a sensitivity to sweetness. That second one was a bit of a surprise, because we tend to like sweets more than most people we know. It also says I'm not likely to have a sensitivity to umami/savory flavors...maybe that has something to do with liking sweets more. It's true that often we feel that hamburger doesn't really have a flavor...

Anyway. We also went back to find a Noragami review to link to, because Noragami reviews are fun. If any Noragami fans are still around and haven't read it yet, here's our review of Noragami 17! I'm not sure why, but that volume number is one that sticks out in our memories.

Today I'm thankful for surviving our trip to the grocery store, having some juice to enjoy when we got back, getting to watch two episodes of Psych today, finally catching a soft-shelled turtle in Animal Crossing, and getting to look at my DNA Traits (although I admit it's a little like Hiyori's description of fortune-telling: why would you pay someone to tell you things you already know? I don't know, but it's still kind of fun).
