Adrien has an evil identical cousin named Felix, who reminded us that there are actually several evil variants of Adrien/Cat Noir throughout the series. That in and of itself may not be so remarkable, but what we really like to notice is that they're all still played by the same voice actor, and he plays every one of them differently. The most amazing was in the Felix episode, where Felix decides to be a super jerk and impersonate Adrien to make a mean video and hurt all their feelings.
So he's all dressed up and has his hair different so he looks just like Adrien, and he's talking to himself for whatever reason in his regular Felix voice, and then he clears his throat to prepare for his Adrien impression, and oh my gosh, you guys. It sounds like a different guy pretending to be Adrien. But it's the same guy. ...At least, we think it's the same guy. To be fair, that's not listed in the credits. But we like to think our voice actor identification skills are pretty good. So I guess what I mean to say is, it sounds like a different person pretending to be Adrien. ...Is that clearer? I don't know. But I think you know what I mean. The point is, Benjamin Bollen is really good at fully becoming all the different versions of Adrien and Cat Noir.
The other thing about Felix is that we're pretty sure he's the future Hawk Moth. This is really good news, because when future Hawk Moth was mentioned, they had a scene at the end of the very same episode where Lila was babysitting Nino and Alya's younger siblings, and we were like, "Noooo, she's going to indoctrinate them!!!" And I was especially worried, because one of the things I really liked about the first half of season three is that Lila forms this unholy alliance with Gabriel, and it's clear that she thinks she's manipulating him when he's actually manipulating her, and I love that, because Lila thinks she's smarter than she is and she needs to be put in her place. So the idea of Lila becoming Hawk Moth in the future made me worry that she would actually best him after all, and I really hate that idea. Re-watching Time Tagger was helpful, because we were able to confirm that Time Tagger used a masculine pronoun for Future Hawk Moth.
Anyway. I know it's been all-Miraculous-all-the-time over here, but! we have been reminded that there's a seventh volume of the Sailor Moon Eternal Edition out, so I think we'll bring back Review Rednesday, at least for tomorrow! Tune in!
Today I'm thankful for having a lovely conversation with Mom, getting to re-watch the Felix and Ladybug episodes of Miraculous, getting to evolve a couple more Pokemon, work not going too too slowly, and getting new books for future translation. And having the perfect opportunity to use this LJ user pic we've had for years.
