We've been chatting with Cecille on Facebook, and she's super excited about the new Fruits Basket anime, so she's like, "It's tomorrow! I can't wait!" like it's the big movie event everyone's been waiting for and you have to see it as soon as humanly possible. We've been following the news about it, but mostly we've been casual about our interest in it. We weren't planning to track it and watch it right away, just like on the weekend when we had time, but since she's so excited about it, it kind of makes me antsy. But mostly I just think it's amusingly ironic that we might not have time to watch anything tomorrow (the big premiere day) because we'll be working to get Fruits Basket another volume three done.

In fact, we were supposed to be working on it today, but since there's been a delay in materials, we worked on Sailor Moon instead. It's been years since we've read the SuperS arc of the manga, and the most recent time was in college, so our Japanese wasn't so good. We might not have even really understood much of what was happening, but it was so long ago, I wouldn't remember either way. So I'm really excited to see how everything goes down. Helios is our favorite.

Today I'm thankful for getting to work on Fruits Basket another, getting to work on Sailor Moon, getting to watch the Penultimate Peril episodes of A Series of Unfortunate Events, Page not sitting on the laptop all day, and getting to see the new Fruits Basket anime soon.

Furubana!! Yay!! Never mind that any thoughts about upcoming work are scary to me right now. (but I’m in the midst of three of your scripts (or four if I count the SM I’m doing corrections on and the one I’m still finishing lettering), so that part is nice!!) (edit: it’s actually five, since I remembered one more due next week... (that I haven’t started yet eeeeek!!!!))

I’m excited about the new anime mostly for others’ sake, because anime just isn’t a big thing for me. Actually I just unfollowed the official FB fb (haha) page today for that reason... but yeah, it is exciting for lots of folks and I’m happy for them that this dream is coming true!

Oh boy, we know that feeling! We think this volume of Fruits Basket won't be too tricky. Or at least, the script is on the short side, which means the text is on the light side, and there aren't very many sound effects (there are a couple of pages with a lot of them, but for the most part, we'd get through the dialogue and be like, "Sound effects?" "Nope.").

We just watched the first episode, and our main thought on it was, "...Okay." as well as, "Yup. That was the first episode of Fruits Basket."

Sfx aren’t bad in Yen books (except when bike races are involved) because Yen doesn’t require much formatting, but still good to know!! :D Takaya-sensei’s manga does feel a little more sedate these days (or at least that’s how I’m remembering it in this moment), compared to some of the hysterics of certain characters in the original Furuba.

Haha, that sounds like the report I’d expect of the first episode.

Lys, do you letter "Yowamushi Pedal"? I really liked the first omnibus volume of that, although all the bicycling minutiae in the subsequent volumes gets rather overwhelming at times. I kind of wish the mangaka would do an alternate-universe side story in which the established cycling star lost that first race to the ingenuous otaku kid and had to join the manga club with him to pay off their bet, instead of practically everything from that point on being about the cyclists' club activities. But then I guess it would just be a high school version of "Genshiken."

Yes, I letter Yowamishi Pedal :) But oh man, would I ever love to read your alternative!!! The biking enthusiasm is rather lost on me too, and my favourite moments are when Onoda gets to nerd out over some anime/manga thing. It happens maybe once every 5-10 volumes, not nearly often enough...

The fall 2017 (I think) anime "Anime Gataris" is actually kind of like that, except that the protagonist is a girl anime-fandom novice who gets roped into forming an anime club with a big shot rich girl who's secretly (well, it was up until that point) a huge anime nerd, despite the rather cartoonishly obstructive student council's repeated attempts to shut them down. But I'm pretty sure "Anime Gataris" was an anime original, and if they ever made a manga version of it I haven't heard about it.

Haha, I don’t think I’d heard of that show!! (Shows how out of it I am about anime...) Thanks, I’ll look it up sometime! :)

It's so nice when the manga artists calm down and realize they don't have to put text everywhere.
