Well, we finally really did it this time. We finished this week's anime episode, and we have the rest of the week off. It was supposed to be two and a half days, but it turned into just one and a half. That's what we get for underestimating the difficulty of taking over a series that was previously done by somebody else. Live and learn, I guess. Hopefully we won't have so many of the same problems next week, because next week, Gaston really is
coming to Disneyland, and we have a text-heavy manga translation due, too.
The other bummer about today is that our internet was being weird, so our attempts to watch shows on Netflix and Hulu just met with a lot of buffering. It may also be because we're using an ancient Wii. But we don't know how any of this stuff works, so we couldn't say one way or the other. Eventually we gave up on it all in favor of reading Harry Potter, which did indeed turn out to be the better time investment.
But speaking of Harry Potter! Our Wizarding World crates finally arrived today! Woohoo! This time, the theme was "Back to Hogwarts," so we were expecting school supplies, and we were not disappointed. Well, maybe a little disappointed, because Athena was hoping for a quill. We'll just have to buy one at Hogsmeade. You know, whenever we manage to make it back there.
Well, the first thing wasn't really a school supply, so much as a school spirit supply--a banner representing our house! I unfolded mine, and I think it's almost five feet long, which doesn't sound that long when I put it that way, but it's much longer than any wall scroll we've had in the past. We're going to hang one at the end of our hallway.
We also each got a Ravenclaw notebook, and a Ravenclaw fancy metal bookmark. The notebook is watermarked with a Ravenclaw emblem on every page, and the bookmark is indeed very fancy. We always had mixed feelings about that kind of bookmark, because we're worried that it might damage the book's pages. But it sure is pretty.
There was supposed to be a Hedwig pin, because I guess there's always a pin, and now that they've finished with the horcrux theme, the theme is magical creatures (a theme I can totally get behind). So we'll be looking forward to getting those later.
And finally, there's always a big "wow" item, and this time, it was a Ravenclaw bookbag! It's made of the kind of material they usually make the good backpacks out of, and it has a Ravenclaw emblem on it, of course. And blue straps, and a little pocket, and a side pouch where you can probably fit a water bottle. And now we're thinking we need an adventure to go on so we can pack up our new bookbags and get some use out of them! ...Except that we're too sick and tired to go on adventures, and by the time we're feeling up to it, we'll probably be busy again. Or busy still, because I'm not sure if we're going to be feeling super healthy before we have to get back to work.
But! it could be fun to take them downtown, where there's a library, a museum, and even a comic book store, where surely they'll be selling the Eternal Edition of Sailor Moon. ...You know. Someday when we have time and energy. (Then if we get really
adventurous, we can figure out how to take public transportation to Kinokuniya. ...But we don't have time to read manga. Maybe if we'd stop reading Harry Potter all the time...but we still have to figure out what volume we're on of everything...sigh...)
And that's all for our fancy Harry Potter merchandise. Today I'm thankful for getting our Wizarding World crates, finishing that episode of anime, getting to take the afternoon off, getting to take tomorrow off, and finally getting to spend a decent amount of time hanging out with Page.
