Stake picnic and kittens

We ended up slacking off again today. We did intend to do chores originally, but then we just...didn't. But we did go to a stake picnic! And we socialized and everything! Okay, so we didn't go out of our way to mingle, but we didn't hide, either. We also took it upon ourselves to pick up the aftermath of the water balloon fight the Primary kids had, thus reinforcing our hatred for water balloons. Somebody should invent biodegradable water balloons, so you can just leave the pieces on the ground. Alternatively, only ever have water balloon fights on private property, so at least you're not dealing with all the other gross trash that got left on the ground from previous parties.

...And that makes it sound like hating water balloons was the only thing we got out of that picnic, but we really did have a good time seeing people and chatting. Then we came home and mostly just relaxed. We finished the day by reading more Harry Potter. We're about two-thirds of the way through Order of the Phoenix now.

In kitten news, the cats have started going in and out of the carrier! Woohoo! It's really very bittersweet, actually. But anyway, the little striped kitten has gotten brave enough to jump up onto the top of the fence, and it's the cutest thing ever, because it's so tiny on this big grownup fence. The one we call Eren Yeager tried to join in, but didn't quite have the jumping skills and ended up getting trapped between the fence and the cathouse for a while. There was some loud scrabbling, and we did consider going out there to rescue the little guy, but fortunately little Eren Yeager made it out safely without any help, and doesn't seem any worse for wear. Kittens are so resilient.

Today I'm thankful for having a lovely time at the stake picnic, getting to read Harry Potter, the cats getting used to the carrier (I do dread the act of betrayal we will ultimately be inflicting upon them, but we do think it's for their good), getting to see a tiny little kitten on the big grownup fence, and getting to go to bed.
