Research

Well, we suspected we would be spending hours on research today, and we were right! Maybe it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe if I hadn't assumed it would take us forever to find this one piece of information, we would have found it more quickly. Why? Because we tried to work smarter instead of harder, so we tried all kinds of different angles to find the best, most true-to-the-heart-of-the-story spelling for this word, and you know what worked? Googling all the different options. In Math Field Day, they called that the "guess and check" method.

On the bright side, we are quite satisfied with the end result. On the not-so-bright side, we are maybe 1/20th of the way through our script! And our deadline is sort of Monday! We already told our editor it would probably be late, so that's okay, except! that we have two other books due next week! And two simulpubs! ...Well, the one won't be a problem; it usually only takes about an hour, maybe an hour and a half. But the other one is Ken Akamatsu. Oh well, I'm sure we'll get it all figured out.

Today I'm thankful for finally finding a good spelling for that word, getting our laundry done, having mug cake to look forward to, also having dark chocolate syrup for the mug cake, and getting to sleep in tomorrow.
