We met her at church. We'd seen her around because she had moved into our ward and she'd always drop her kids off at Primary, then one day she noticed the Yukine keychain on Athena's satchel and asked if it was Japanese anime, and since she's from Japan, we were able to relate. So we've been gradually working around inconvenient schedules and missed texts, and today we finally had a night out together! Tadah!
Mostly we just sat around the table eating Italian ice and chatting, but that's pretty much what grownup friends do. We mentioned some of our Halloween costumes, and she asked if we had pictures, so I pulled out my camera and started flipping through, and that turned out to be good for keeping the conversation going. There was never a lull, because there was always a picture to talk about, but also we weren't determined to talk about every picture, so it didn't get to be like, "Ugh, why are there thirty pictures of the Cadaver Dans?" (I'm kidding; I would never take that many pictures of zombies. I probably have over fifty pictures of One Man's Dream, though, but we didn't get that far.)
So it was a really nice evening. And it started a little late, so it has nothing to do with the fact that we're behind on Hatsu*Haru. It's Hatsu*Haru's fault for being so wordy. Or our fault for taking so long on UQ Holder!, and for taking so long to drag our carcasses out of bed.
Today I'm thankful for a lovely evening with a new friend, Joe's having Monster Mash today, getting to spread the joy of Noragami, Page having regular bowel movements again, and getting to work on two great titles today.
