Unintentional slacking
14th-Oct-2017 09:26 pm
Wouldn't it just figure that the day we decide to catch up on sleep is the day the smoke alarm in our bedroom decides to alert us that it needs a battery change at 6:30 in the morning? We hushed it, went back to sleep, and woke up at 10:30. Then we bought more batteries when we went grocery shopping. We were hoping to pick up some slack on work, but that didn't happen so much, either. We did work a little, but we had a bunch of other stuff to do, too. We got caught up in a Facebook chat, and we don't think it's a good idea to edit manga scripts while distracted, so we wrote a review instead.

By the time all that was finished, we only had half an hour before bedtime, so we watched UQ Holder!. I think the anime adaptation is pretty solid so far, but of course, us and our very opinionated take on translation... After the episode, we spent fifteen minutes reading our scripts of the chapters that episode covered and laughing heartily at our own jokes. (Well, Ken Akamatsu's and our jokes. Surely we wouldn't have come up with such hilarious wording if the Japanese didn't give us such great material to work with.) This is the danger of watching the anime of something we translated the manga of right before bed. Fortunately, church starts an hour later now, so we have a little wiggle room...assuming we don't care about catching up on sleep.

Anyway, I just hope this doesn't have too detrimental an effect on our ability to meet all our deadlines. Worst case scenario, I think we'll miss out on more sleep. ...And I hope that doesn't have a detrimental effect on our translations. Well, no sense worrying about it now. What's done is done.

Today I'm thankful for at least getting a little bit of work done, getting caught up on UQ Holder! just in time for the next episode to air on Monday, finding out where to watch Hozuki's Coolheadedness 2 (it's on HiDive, folks!), reminders that we can be very funny sometimes (at least, we could be very funny...), and getting to go to our new-ish ward tomorrow.
