AAAAAHHH!

happyday
I already posted today, but I thought this deserved to be in a new entry and not just added onto an existing one or mentioned in a comment. So...we sometimes only get the mail once a week, and come to think of it, we actually got the mail twice this week, but the last time was before we got the packages so I didn't mention anything because it was boring. But today, we got the packages! The first one was a book on weaving that we ordered with the loom, but it came separately because it was from a different seller than the loom itself.

But more importantly! We had a package from our dear friend lyschan, and we're so excited about it! She sent us MAPLE SUGAR!!! AAAAAAAAHHHH!!! Just when I've been thinking about how much I missed those maple candies we got the one time at everybody's favorite candy store in Fresno and how we can't get them anymore because not only are we not in Fresno (I'm really okay with that) but the store in Fresno doesn't sell them anymore.

Anyway, thank you so much, lys!! (I thought about putting that in all caps, too, but I was wondering if I should tone it down on the yelling; it can get pretty cacophonous.) We haven't tried the candy yet, because we have this weird thing where we can't just get something and open it on the spot. It kind of has to wait its turn, but we are definitely bumping it up in line! (We have a giant bag of Reese's Pieces that we're almost finished with.) You know us so well! (Also, I don't know how you feel about public displays like this, so if you don't want me to make such a big deal about it, let us know and we'll lock the post.)

Also, there was a note that said she visited the trees that the maple sugar came from personally, and that they seemed like very nice trees. Awwww, it's so nice to remember that things like this actually come from somewhere that's not just a cold, heartless factory (like where they probably make Reese's Pieces...). Thanks again! You're the best!

Hahahaha!!! Yay, I'm so glad it arrived safely and that it made you so happy! When you mentioned maple stuff a few times in your Japan reports, it stirred up some Michigan-pride in me, and then I remembered a nature center in town always has an educational tour/event-thingy when they're tapping the trees, and I hadn't been to it in years, and I had to go!! And of course I had to share the deliciousness too! :D So thank YOU for being the inspiration for my visit, and I hope you enjoy the candies once it's their turn!

We're so glad you noticed! And now we're even more interested in trying Michigan maple! Here in California, we mostly hear about maple coming from Vermont. Of course, we haven't had real American maple syrup in years, so it's not like we'd know the difference anyway (unless the stuff in Japan was imported from America, but we wouldn't know which state). We're glad you got to go to the tour-event-thingy! That sounds like a pretty neat thing to do!
