Not playing

Well, we ended up working today. We got to sleep in first, though, so that probably helped. And then the thing we worked on was a little different than usual, so I think the newness helped it to be less exhausting. So I don't think we're quite so tired today as we have been.

Tonight was the first performance of the play, but it looks like our bad attitudes got us fired because we ended up not going. That might also be a result of our ranting to our ride about our work schedule, which is why we made it a point to work instead of goofing off. I think our schedule needed it, too, so it's for the best. I hope the play went well. We'll ask about it tomorrow.

In other news, we read an article last night about how, when you watch Aladdin as an adult, it doesn't make any sense. And we were like, "Oh please, your few legitimate points are things we thought of and explained when we were teenagers."

The thing that bugs me the most about it is the weird ideas people seem to have come up with about the girls who show up in the "One Jump Ahead" number. We saw a thing going around Facebook one time that pointed out that that bit takes place in a brothel, and at the time I was like, "Huh, I never thought of it like that. Maybe that's what it is." But we watched Aladdin a couple of weeks ago, and I noticed something that I wouldn't expect to see in a brothel: a loom. So unless Arabian brothels also made and sold carpets on the side, I don't think that's what that establishment was.

I don't think it would bother me so much if people thought it was anyway, except the person who wrote the article said that Aladdin is a little too familiar with all of the girls there, and I don't like people casting that kind of aspersions on my favorite Disney characters. I like to think of them as being more chaste than that.

Today I'm thankful for getting a good amount of work done, Page letting me have my chair, Entenmann's donuts, getting to sleep in this morning, and cat stampedes (only in concept; they're very amusing when they're not happening, but when they are, they're a little alarming).
