Poof!

tired
The day kind of went poof on us. We should have expected it, since we ended up being behind on Your Lie in April. I guess we underestimated our work ethic. Right now we're looking at working really hard for the next several days if we want any chance of finishing both our next two books on time. We already told our editor that at least one of them is likely to be late, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And that's probably why we ended up working for so long today.

It wouldn't have been so bad, but I ended up getting very little sleep last night...although now that I think of it, I guess four hours isn't "very little" for some people. Maybe it's just "little". But the point is, the result was that I've had a minor headache for the last half of the day or so. It was funny (to me, I guess), too, because I was like, "Why am I getting a headache? Work hasn't been harder than usual and we actually ate today!" and Athena said, "Because you didn't sleep," and I was like, "Oooohhhh yeah." I guess I was so tired I forgot.

On the bright side, the weird deadline situation has us shuffling things around, which has me feeling bad on the one hand because hello? Noragami. It's not that we don't love you that we don't just rush to finish you, I promise! But this was supposed to be a bright side, and that's that we started Fire Force, and it's really good, you guys. But it's going to be trouble, because Atsushi Ohkubo has once again built a world with lots of specialized terminology, and that means we have to sit down and figure out all the words for important terms that are going to be used throughout the series, so they have to be good so I'm not cringing every time I type them down the road. And that means trouble. It's like we're working on two Noragamis at once. It's a little scary. But we'll just keep on trucking, and eventually we'll be finished with both of them. If we're lucky, they'll both be turned in before deadline!

Today I'm thankful for getting to start on Fire Force, finally finishing that volume of Your Lie in April, the hope of one day having time to stop and enjoy all the wonderful titles we're working on, getting to have a kitten party on the patio, and the possibly ill-advised decision to eat Twix not wreaking havoc on my braces after all.

If Noragami's script ends up late by a couple/few days, I'm pretty sure I can handle that. Just so you know! I'm glad Fire Force is off to a happy start :D (other than the terminology.)

I would totally consider 4 hours "very little sleep," unless it were supplemented by a nap (and I know you guys don't do naps). Hope you catch up tonight!

Kitten party!!!!!

We thought that might be the case. Like how sometimes our editors are like, "We'll get the book to you soon, I promise!" and we're like, "Take your time; we won't be able to work on it for two weeks anyway." Or maybe in your case it's just a matter of being able to do it that quickly!

Whew, I'm glad I didn't sound like too much of a wimp. I do love me some sleep...just not in the middle of the day.

Yes! Page wanted to go outside last night, and she so rarely gets to go outside lately; her interest seems to have waned since we lured the kittens onto our patio, eh heh. But last night she was not to be deterred! (Possibly because she was upset that the water tasted so bad; I took out the filter in our pitcher to change it a couple of days ago only to discover that we were out of replacement filters.) Anyway, there were kittens on the patio then, and now that the door was open to a new potential place to explore, instead of fleeing as per usual, they were even more interested! So I went outside to scare them away, but they weren't scared of me anymore and I didn't want to do anything to change that, so I just kind of stood there while the kittens stared, and fortunately if I got too close they would back up a little, so I was able to clear a path for Page to go where she wanted to go, and then I was surrounded by kittens! ...They still won't let us touch them, though.

Yes, it's a combination of not having time to start it right away and only needing a week total to do the work. (then again, this being dearly-beloved-Noragami, I try to do the first lettering pass as soon as I can get my hands on the script, and then wait like two weeks and do the final pass just before it's due. there have been a couple occasions when I had the script and really truly had NO time to start on it for days because everything else was super urgent... it was maddening. but as long as I don't have the script, then I can be patient :) )

Awwww, all the kitties! I hope the little ones let you pet them someday. So cute♥

Our current plan is to see how far we get on Fire Force today, then see how far we get on Noragami tomorrow, and then ideally Gaston will call and we'll finalize our travel plans, and that should tell us which one to prioritize on Monday. Of course, if our simulpub chapters don't come along before we go, we're going to have to take work with us anyway. But anyway, we'll have no trouble making it easier for you to wait on Noragami, if that's what you really want. XD

We have made progress so far, so it's not entirely unthinkable!
